Police investigate pedestrian hit and run

A 30 year old man suffered shoulder injuries and needed stitches to his head after he was struck by a car on Front Street next to Port Place Theatre.

The incident happened about twenty to 12 Friday night.

Nanaimo RCMP bike patrol officers say they saw the car hit the victim in a crosswalk.

After the man was struck, the car drove around him and continued north on Front Street sideswiping a taxi.

Police patrolled the area in an effort to locate the vehicle but it was gone.

The suspect vehicle is described as a midsized black car and it was being driven by an older woman with white hair.

The car may have front end damage and there may be yellow paint on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident or know anything about it to call.
