The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has served 72-hour strike notice.
The union will be in a legal position to strike on Sunday.
The Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, has announced she will appoint a special mediator to assist in negotiations with CUP-W.
For its part, Canada Post says it will cooperate with mediation.
No word yet from the Union.
