Health professionals across the country remain vigilant for possible cases of Enterovirus

Health Regions across the country are monitoring for cases of Enterovirus in their communities.
Dr. Paul Hasselback, Vancouver Island medical health officer says two years ago, at about this time of year, the virus made it’s way through the community and hundreds were hospitalized….
Hasselback says he doesn’t think there have been any cases on the Island yet this year, but the first case, of about a dozen so far, appeared on the mainland about a month ago.
There is no vaccine for the virus which can cause symptoms ranging from a runny nose, rash and mouth blisters to heart infections and paralysis.
