Nanaimo RCMP say they’ve witnessed an increase in thefts from vehicles and random theft of things like garden tools, sheds and bicycles.
Constable Gary O’Brien says these are crimes of opportunity, so community members should keep their valuables out of sight.
He says often, the likelihood of recovering these stolen items are slim.
O’Brien says visitors should also be aware, especially whe parked in public areas like hotel or motel parking lots.
