Despite a number of close calls on the Cowichan River, and a fatal drowning in recent weeks, the Mayor of Lake Cowichan says there are safe alternatives.
Mayor Ross Forrest says families and friends can tube safely in Lake Cowichan.
Forrest says the route that is safe is much wider and slower compared to the river down at Skutz Falls and Marie Canyon.
