Warning bells in Ernst and Young report for ICBC

The NDP government has inherited a mess when it comes to ICBC.
B.C. motorists are set to be hit with auto insurance rate hikes of almost 30 per cent in the next two years if the government does not overhaul ICBC’s basic insurance system.

That’s according to a 203 page report by Ernst and Young commissioned by the Liberal government in late 2016 that contains a number of recommendations including capping payouts for pain and suffering for minor injuries, re-introducing photo radar, and changing red-light cameras so they also catch speeders.

Attorney General and Minister Responsible for ICBC is David Eby….
Eby says no fault insurance and photo radar are not on the table but there is some low hanging fruit like ensuring bad drivers and those with expensive cars pay more.
He says 25 per cent of ICBC costs are for litigation and if a solution could be found to drive down those costs it could be a win-win for everyone.
