Jim Dias is this year’s winner of the Duncan-Cowichan Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
The former North Cowichan CAO and community volunteer will be presented with the honour at the Black Tie Awards in April.
Dias says he was caught off guard by the announcement.
Dias was central to negotiations to acquire land for Chemainus Lake Park, Cowichan Sportsplex and VIU.
He also oversaw the construction of the Aquatic Centre and Evans Field.
