Sunfest officially moving to Meade Creek area from Cowichan Exhibition Grounds

Sunfest officially has a new home in the Cowichan Valley.

The country music festival will now be taking place on a 172-acre parcel of land in Meade Creek, five kilometres outside of Lake Cowichan, instead of the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds.

Cowichan Valley Regional District area directors voted in favour of the move at a board meeting on Wednesday night.

Klaus Kuhn is the director for Youbou and Meade Creek.

Details and design for this year’s event and location will be announced next month.

Some businesses in Duncan and North Cowichan are not thrilled about the move and feel they could lose some business as the event brings in thousands of tourists.
