The Cowichan Valley Regional District is looking for someone to recycle used couches.
The District has put out a call for proposals with a deadline of February 22nd.
District chair Jon Lefebure says the idea is to get the big, bulky items out of the garbage that has to get shipped to a private landfill in Washington state& .
The idea is, residents will be able to take their couches to the landfill and pay the regular fee to dispose of them but the furniture will then be trucked to a recycler.
That recycler will be able to take apart the couch to recycle the wood, metal and foam.
