Non-stop afternoon for police

Two men were arrested in Duncan after a pursuit that began in Nanaimo and involved multiple police vehicles from several police jurisdictions.

RCMP say it all started just before 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon after police received reports of multiple gunshots being fired into an occupied vehicle.

Police on patrol spotted the car 20 minutes later and a chase began out the south end of Nanaimo.

Constable Gary O’Brien says during the pursuit, at Ladysmith, two police officers from Nanaimo were injured…..

 

 

By ten to 5 police managed to stop the car in Duncan at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Coronation Avenue.

Two men, both in their mid-twenties, were arrested for attempted murder anda variety of weapons charges.

Although multiple shots were fired at the vehicle from close range in Nanaimo, the lone man in the car was not injured.

RCMP in Duncan/North Cowichan had their hands full at the same time the pursuit was ending in City.

Corporal Krista Hobday says the phones started ringing with a rash of other reports……

 

 

And it wasn’t over yet, 24 minutes later police were called to a report of a man in the middle of the street yelling at traffic near Dobson Road.

He prompted a foot chase and was eventually arrested near Canada Avenue
