Woman collecting cash door to door

The RCMP in Nanaimo is on the look out for a elderly woman who has been going door to door collecting money claiming it’s for an organization.

Police say in one case the woman claimed to be working for the BC Open Heart Society and in another claimed to be collecting for the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.

In one case, the suspect had a plastic salad bowl with her and pamphlets from the Society, along with a handmade name tag.

Nanaimo RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien has some advice on how not to fall victim to fraud…..

The suspect is white and described as about 5 ft. 2 and 150 pounds.

She is between 60-70 years old, and has short grey hair.
