The CVRD has handed out the 2016 grants to community groups.
There were applications for a grant-in-aid from 23 organizations and 17 were granted.
The bigger ones included 20 thousand dollars for the Cowichan Energy Alternatives Society, 12 thousand dollars for the Cowichan Valley Intercultural and Immigrant Aid Society and more than 11 thousand dollars for the Cowichan Valley Amateur Radio Society.
The Island Corridor Foundation was granted the balance of a recommendation from 2013 of just over $122,000 dollars.
