Another day, another appeal for contaminated soil

A group of residents from Shawnigan Lake will be leaving from Departure Bay in Nanaimo tomorrow (Wed) morning.

We caught up with Sierra Acton on her cell phone. She figures better than half a dozen people from Shawnigan Lake will be going to listen to the appeal from the operators of the contaminated soil site….

 

 

Cobble Hill Holdings, South Island Aggregates and South Island Resource Management want to be able to continue business as usual until further rulings are made.

Currently, the companies cannot dump contaminated soil at the site south of Shawnigan Lake.

That was the result of a court ruling a few weeks ago that said the Cowichan Valley Regional District bylaws prohibit the dumping of contaminated soil on the site
