Nanaimo Council not supporting rail committee

The Island Corridor Foundation was hoping to set up a liaison committee to keep the lines of communication open between itself and the various councils with the stake in the organization.

But Nanaimo City council isn’t jumping on board with that idea.

Councillor Bill Bestwick says he doesn’t think there’s anything to be gained from such a committee….

In the end, councillors voted 5-3 against appointing a member to the committee.
Bill McKay, Nanaimo’s mayor is the chair of the Island Corridor Foundation.
