Bluebirds multiplying

The Garry Oak Ecosystems Recovery Team is celebrating their accomplishments over five years doing the Bring Back the Bluebird project. The team has successfully reintroduced 24 adults and up to 30 juveniles in the Cowichan Valley.
Project Technician Morgan Davies says their original goal was to bring 90 blue birds from healthy populations in the United States – but they haven’t quite hit that target at this point.
If you’d like to participate and help out in the project, there are many ways for the public to do so – including learning how to identify them a bluebird and reporting any sightings, and building specific nest boxes to accommodate the blue birds. More information can be found on the Garry Oak Ecosystems Recovery Team website.
