A prolific offender in Nanaimo was arrested and is now in police custody. 27 year old Julien Lawrence Potvin was wanted on several outstanding warrants on weapons and drug charges.
Nanaimo RCMP officers saw an illegal drug deal take place in a vehicle, where Potvin was a passenger. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, when the driver sped up. Fortunately, the vehicle stalled and came to an abrupt stop.
When Potvin was searched, officers found an 8-inch folding knife, brass knuckles, a small baggie of suspected heroine and 2-thousand dollars in cash. Police also found more illegal drugs, scales, and other paraphenalia in a back pack at his feet. Also in the vehicle, there were two cans of bear spray, two knives and a machete.
The arrest of Potvin and three other adults took place near Bowen Road and Morey Road on Friday July 29th at noon.
