The Cowichan Women Against Violence Society is taking over the Cowichan Valley Police Based Victims Services. The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General recently awarded the contract.
CWAV Executive Director Jane Sterk says the Valley has been well served in the past through this program.
Sterk says the public should notice no changes to the service. Police Based Victim Services is a 24 hour a day service, where a caseworker responds to call from police to a critical incident to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and follow up to victims of crime or trauma.
