It turns out some of the staff at Wexford Creek Care Home in Nanaimo were offered their positions back when their layoffs under the old employer took effect Friday.
But Jennifer Whiteside, with the Hospital Employees Union, says there wasn’t a lot of uptake when the new service provider, SimpeQ took over….
She says about one in 5 former HEU members are still working at the facility.
She says it’s a disturbing trend and does a disservice to seniors.
