Hopefully boil water advisories will soon be in the past

The Mayor of the Municipality of North Cowichan is hoping boil water advisories will soon be a thing of the past for the residents of Chemainus.
Jon Lefebure says during the summer months, until October 15th, the community uses surface water, and when it rains, there’s turbidity which results in the advisories.
Lefebure says from mid October until mid June, the community gets it’s water from wells and that water has been supplied for about the last 6 years without any advisories….
About 2200 homes are affected when a boil water advisory is issued for Chemainus water users.
There is a boil water advisory currently in effect for Chemainus with an update on the situation expected by noon Friday.
