Tick season is now mostly over but BC Centre for Disease Control has now confirmed three ticks collected since June have tested positive for a new species of bacteria.
Dr. Eleni Galanis, physician epidemiologist with the Centre says the bacteria can cause Lyme disease in people…..
One of the infected ticks was removed from a child in the central interior of the province and two ticks were found on dogs on the lower mainland.
None of trio are showing symptoms of Lyme disease.
