Air Quality Advisory in Effect for Duncan

An Air Quality Advisory is in effect for Duncan.
The Ministry of Environment and Northern Health issued the advisory due to high concentrations of fine particulate matter that are expected to persist until tomorrow.
Open burning restrictions are now in effect for the Cowichan Valley within 15 kilometres of Duncan City Hall for a period of 3 days. No new fires may be initiated and no additional material may be added to existing fires.
Anyone with chronic underlying medical conditions should avoid strenous activity until the advisory is lifted. Exposure is a particular concern for infants, seniors and those with diabetes, lung or heart disease.
Staying indoors and in air-conditioned spaces can help reduce fine particulate matter. The advisory is in effect until further notice.
