A new scam has arrived in the Cowichan Valley.
North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP say a Duncan resident responded to an job posting in the Duncan Free Press for employment as a caregiver.
Staff Sgt. Chris Bear says while the posting appeared promising, red flags were raised after further conversations via email.
Bear says if the cheque had been cashed, it would have eventually come back as bogus.
RCMP found the cheque’s origin and phone number to be fake.
