About one hundred 40 residents of Cobble Hill turned out to an open house in the community last night (Mon) to hear more details about a plan to increase the capacity of Fisher Road Recycling.

The facility has applied for an amendment to their license to increase the current licensed capacity from 10 thousand, 8 hundred 90 tonnes to 18 thousand tonnes annually.

Residents at the meeting expressed their concerns, mostly about odour and water quality issues but they were also worried about dust, noise, what material the facility is taking in and rats.

Another concern was having the final decision on the proposal falling on the shoulders of one man at the CVRD, rather than the entire board.

The CVRD will take comments on the proposal until mid April.
