Dog theft case cancelled…for now

A Chemainus man due in court Tuesday to face charges of break and enter and theft in relation to the disappearance of a dog in Duncan last month, has had been informed the appearance was cancelled.

Kevin Shiell posted on his Facebook, RCMP stopped by his residence to tell him his April 15th court date has been cancelled. Shiell can still be asked to appear at a later date.

Shiell doesn’t see his actions as theft, but rather a dog rescue. He has started a campaign to have the charges dropped at Change.org http://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/duncan-provincial-court-of-british-columbia-drop-the-break-and-enter-charge-for-rescuing-bear

He reported on social media the dog was being abused and living in filthy conditions and that’s why he took it.
