E-cigs banned on school district property

School District 79 has banned the use of E-cigarettes.

Superintendent Joe Rhodes says, based on expert advice they have decided to take proactive approach to the E-cigarette issue.

Dr. Paul Hasselback Island Health’s Medical Health Officer for the Central Island says research shows that E-cigarette use can lead to other problems….

Dr. Hasselback says because E-cigarettes are more expensive, what they are seeing is teens become addicted to the nicotine used in the product, and because they can’t afford to purchase the nicotine used they convert to real cigarettes which are more harmful.
