Fisher Road Recycling gets green light

Fisher Road Recycling has gotten the green light for an amendment to its license.
The approval, from the CVRD means Fisher Road Recycling can increase the amount of material that goes through the facility from almost 11 thousand tonnes to 18 thousand tonnes.

The facility has been operating at the higher capacity for more than 6 months already.

However, there are some conditions the company will have to abide by.
They include a comprehensive odour study and improvements to odour management practices, expanded water quality testing and trucks will have to enter and exit the facility from the highway to reduce the traffic in Cobble Hill Village.
At a public meeting on the license amendment issue, residents at the meeting expressed their concerns, mostly about odour and water quality issues but they were also worried about dust, rats, noise, what material the facility is taking in.
During the consultation period the CVRD received 60 written comments from the public concerned about the application.
