L.E.D. Lights: Coming to the Cowichan Valley Regional District

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is going to L.E.D. street lighting throughout the region as part of its Strategic Energy Management Plan.
Ornamental street lights in the areas of Arbutus Mountain Estates, Cobble Hill Village, Mill Springs, and Twin Cedars will be upgraded to the brighter, more cost-effective L.E.D.’s.
C.V.R.D.’s Asset Coordinator, Austin Tokarek says these lights cost more than $20,000, but they will pay for themselves in two years.

Tokarek adds that the lighting technology is much improved from the old L.E.D.’s.

By the end of 2018, these lights will reduce the total energy use at the C.V.R.D. by 25 percent.
