Crofton Fire Hall: Looking for New Recruits

The Crofton Fire Hall is looking for six to eight more firefighters, ideally before 2018.
It takes one year to become a firefighter, including three months of training and nine months of probation.
Fire Chief, Ken Rukus says becoming a full-time firefighter requires candidates to take their 10-01 training (full-time firefighter training).
The training also requires the completion of a first responders course and the goal is to have these new firefighters hired by New Year’s and start training in January.

Rukus says the training program is paid for.

There isn’t a shortage of firefighters in Crofton, but the numbers can always be bolstered.
However, only physically fit people living in the Crofton Fire Hall response boundaries are eligible to apply.
People can apply at the Municipality of North Cowichan or at the various fire halls.
