Man saved with a garden hose by police

Duncan North Cowichan RCMP saved a man from drowning on Monday.
Police were called just after noon to a report that a man had fallen in a drainage pond in the 2200 block of Cowichan Bay Road.
When officers arrived they found a large pond surrounded by a 15 foot steep bank.
The man had fallen into the pond while working on his property nearby and was completely submerged in mud and water up to his mouth and couldn’t get out.
Police located a garden hose nearby, made a safety line and harness and lowered an officer to the water down the bank where he managed to grab the victim’s arm and hold on until both were pulled to safety.
