CVRD salaries up 2.5%

There was public outrage last July when it came to light that wages for some CVRD staff had ballooned as much as 11 percent.
This time around the overall increase is 2 and a half per cent.
The Cowichan Valley Regional District Board will be taking a look at the Statement of Financial Information at their regular council meeting tomorrow (Wed).
According to the Statement there are more than 2 dozen managers making more than one hundred thousand dollars annually.
In all, there are 52 people at the top making more than 75 thousand dollars year.

Earlier this year the Cowichan Valley Regional District struck a Special Committee to review the salaries of it’s managers and the board’s remuneration.

CVRD Director Phil Kent, Chair of that Committee says the report he will compile will not set specific salary levels but rather advise the board on the process and policy to use when establishing compensation.
