RCMP release sketch of suspect

Nanaimo RCMP have released a composite sketch of the man involved in an attempted abduction of a 17 year old girl.

Nanaimo police are looking for the suspect after a 17 year girl was attacked near the Cedar bridge, south of Nanaimo in the early morning hours last Wednesday.

The girl was driving home when she spotted some kittens on the road ahead of her who appeared to be attempting to cross the road.

Concerned for their safety, she got out of her vehicle to help them.

At that same time, a car pulled up behind her and a man got out, exchanged a few words with her and as she was walking back to her car, she was attacked and thrown to the ground.

She fought back and until he gave up and left.

Mounties say the girl did not require hospitalization and drove herself to her home where she called 911.

The suspect is described as white, being between 20 and 25 years of age, with short hair.

He was wearing baggy low jeans, a white or grey t-shirt and a flat brim dark ball cap.

He was driving was an older model white, 1990 to 1995 Honda Civic or possibly a Toyota with a dark pin stripe along the door panel and a small spoiler on the trunk.

The car was loud and had some blue lights on it.
