One Cowichan, others up in arms over Northern Gateway
Numerous conservation groups, including One Cowichan, and First Nations are up in arms after the Harper government gave Enbridge the green light to build the Northern Gateway pipeline that will stretch between Alberta and the BC coast.
The director of One Cowichan is Parker Jefferson.
Jefferson says the construction of the pipeline will face numerous legal challenges as well as a potential referendum vote on permits if enough signatures are collected.
The announcement came down on Tuesday afternoon, however, approval comes with 209 conditions.
The approval by the feds was the final step needed for Enbridge to access the Pacific coast to send crude oil to Asia.
