Funding contribution of aquatic centre appears resolved

The funding contribution of the CVRD’s Area E to the Cowichan Aquatic Centre seems to be resolved, for now.
There was some pressure from some of the other funding partners in the Centre to have ratepayers in Cowichan Station, Sahtlam and Glenora pay more.
They currently contribute the same as Area’s A, B, C and D to the operations of the Aquatic Centre.
Area Director, Loren Duncan says the plan, which would have meant holding a referendum for Area E during the elections this fall, just didn’t make sense.
The CVRD Board appears to have reluctantly agreed and the maximum funding contribution for the Area will remain at the current maximum of 23 thousand dollars.
