Ticket for idling angers Duncan woman
The City of Duncan has responded to an angry resident who received an idling ticket.
A woman says she had to get out of her house while it was being shown and so took her dogs with her on errands.
She left her car running because the dogs where inside while she ran into a local bank but when she returned she had a ticket for idling.
Mayor Phil Kent says a bylaw preventing idling was implemented in January of 2011 and wasn’t enforced until a year later because the first 12 months were used as an education program.
Kent says it’s not practical to have plenty of signage for the bylaw because it’s not a parking issue.
He adds the commissioner waited for five minutes before issuing a ticket.
The bylaw allows for a ticket after one minute.
