100th Birthday for the Cowichan Station School

It’s expected to be a busy weekend around the Cowichan Station as birthday celebrations are planned for the old school there.
The school was built in 1913 and officially opened the following year, it was closed in 2007, but has become part of what is now the HUB Community space.
This weekend, Madelaine MacLeod, one of the organizers for the event, the secretary of the Cowichan Station Area Association and a history buff says celebrations including a plant and kids garage sale, a strawberry tea, cake cutting and the locking and loading of a time capsule.

MacLeod says there was a time capsule buried at the site previously….
On Sunday celebrations include a pancake breakfast.
MacLeod says she’s expecting a good turnout….
