Green Party MLA concerned with LNG deal

A company called Steelhead LNG is proposing a 32-billion dollar plant in the Port Alberni area.
The Vancouver-based company says it has a development agreement with the Huu-ay-aht First Nations, and it has applied for an export permit from the National Energy Board.
Green Party MLA Andrew Weaver says he applauds the company for partnering with the local First Nation before moving forward. But Weaver says it’s just one of numerous proposed LNG facilities and the feasibility of the entire industry is still questionable.
Weaver says BC should be investing in renewable energy instead, and he says banking on a future supported by LNG isn’t responsible governance.
