The long-anticipated makeover of Chemainus’s Waterwheel Square is on schedule to begin in less than two weeks.

The town’s chamber of commerce says construction, which is reportedly slated to cost over 800 thousand dollars, will start on August 25th.

North Cowichan councillor Al Siebring explains what residents can look forward to when all the work is complete.

Siebring says construction has been delayed so that it wouldn’t interfere with the tourist season.

According to a report, North Cowichan taxpayers contributed a 200 thousand dollar grant into the project.
