World War One medals stolen from North Cow residence

Police say an 84-year-old North Cowichan resident came home from his volunteer work to find the house broken into and cherished belongings stolen.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP say a thief or thieves took World War I medals and sentimental pieces of jewelry belonging to the homeowner’s family members.

They add a gold ring with a princess cut diamond with an inscription “My one love”, a jade ring and a sapphire ring along with a Rolex watch were all taken.

RCMP say the homeowner is asking the items be returned especially the World War I medals, and he won’t ask any questions.
