Almost half the population in the Town of Lake Cowichan cast a ballot

The voter turnout in the City of Duncan was 33 point 8 per cent.

1,354 voters turned out.

The voter turnout in Lake Cowichan was 49 per cent.

The numbers from the previous election were not immediately available but the Elections Officer says the turnout this time around was higher than in 2014.

The voter turnout in Ladysmith was 31 point 2 per cent.

However, the Elections Officer points out it is difficult to draw a straight comparison with the 2014 election, because this time around there was no race for a mayor because Aaron Stone was acclaimed.

Voter turnout was 29 per cent in 2011 and 24 per cent in 2008.

Neither the Municipality of North Cowichan nor the CVRD have reported the turn out numbers yet.
