Halloween is Scary, Dangerous

The ghouls and goblins will be out looking to indulge their sweet tonight, but Halloween night is scary and it has nothing to do with costumes.

A recent UBC study found that pedestrians are 43 per cent more likely to be struck on Halloween night, kids between four and eight years old are ten times more likely to hit and killed by vehicles.

This is one of the most dangerous nights of the year, and researchers looked at 42 years of data, comparing pedestrian fatalities on October 31st to incidents in the weeks leading up to and following Halloween.

There were 950 crashes throughout the province on this day last year, 280 people were injured.
