MacGregor Nominated for a Prestigious Award

This year’s McLean’s Parliamentarians of the Year award nominees have been announced and a local is a finalist in the Most Collegial category.

Cowichan-Langford-Malahat NDP MP Alistair MacGregor is up against his friend and fellow Vancouver Island politician, Rachel Blaney, the member of parliament for the North Island-Powell River, and Monique Posey of the Bloc Quebecois.

MacGregor said he’s honoured to be a finalist for this award.

“I’m extremely humbled to be nominated for the shortlist,” said MacGregor. “I’m on there with two other members of parliament, Rachel Blaney, whose my neighbour up north on the island and Monique Posey.”

MacGregor used to be the Justice Critic and he said that role required maturity and responsibility.

“Because of the subject matter that we regularly deal with, it requires a certain amount of maturity and responsibility and I found there was a really great working relationship on that,” said MacGregor.

The awards ceremony goes at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa on Monday and the award winners are selected by their fellow MP’s.
