The federal and provincial governments have announced some Investments in public transit.
More than 136 million dollars in joint funding will be aimed at five projects that are expected to benefit transit users across B.C.
With the funding BC Transit will add new buses to its fleet, refurbish existing ones, introduce on-board cashless fare, GPS tracking technologies and build a series of new transit shelters.
It will also allow them to purchase new generators for transit facilities in a number of communities including Nanaimo to ensure uninterrupted operations in the event of power failures.
