The MLA for Nanaimo has officially handed in his resignation.
Leonard Krog was first elected to the Legislature in 1991 and represented Parksville/Qualicum.
He has represented the constituency of Nanaimo since 2005.
His leaving means there will be a by-election in the Harbour City, likely in the coming months.
That by-election could tip the balance of power in the legislature where the LIberals have 42 members.
With Krog resigning the NDP have 40, the Greens have 3 and there’s one independent.
Sheila Malcolmson, the current Nanaimo Ladysmith NDP mp, is hoping to represent the constituency provincially; Nanaimo businessman Tony Harris is representing the LIberals. The green party will be selecting a candidate December 15th.
