You won’t be able to get onto the Highway from Cowichan Bay Road after today.
The final phase of the Koksilah River Bridge seismic upgrade is moving to the other side of the highway.
During this phase, the southbound left turn from Highway 1 onto Cowichan Bay Road will remain closed as it has been since the project started.
But now, in addition, the right turn from Cowichan Bay Road heading north onto Highway 1 will be closed.
Northbound drivers will still be allowed to access Cowichan Bay Road via Highway 1 as long as there are no washouts that tend to close the road.
The two closures will remain in effect until the project is done around the end of February.
The project is taking longer than originally anticipated due to weather.
