The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is about 40 per cent short of where it usually at this point in December.
Fifteen shifts need to be filled tomorrow and Kettle Campaign Coordinator Darcy Baird said the numbers are way down due to a lack of volunteers.
Baird said helping out during this campaign can make all the difference for the less fortunate during the holiday season.
“We have a lot of families and individuals in this region who need extra help at Christmas,” said Baird. “Donating to the kettles could be the difference, for someone having a great food hamper to make a nice Christmas dinner for their family, for us to buy toys for kids who might not have a lot of presents under the tree.”
One hundred shifts still need to be filled and past volunteers are picking up the slack, but with all the extra shifts, people are getting tired.
The bells are ringing at Thrifty Foods, Save-On-Foods, Superstore, Canadian Tire, London Drugs and there are two at Walmart in Duncan.
On Saturday, December 15, Walmart will match all kettle donations.
