School District 79 Appoints new Superintendent

School isn’t about going through the motions all the way up until graduation day.

The newly appointed School District 79 Superintendent is Robyn Gray and she said experiential learning is the way of the future and its important to create learning transformation opportunities for students.

“Whether that be a regular classroom or whether that be an outdoor classroom, with regard to learning transformation it really is about how do we expand learning environments to actually provide our children with that personalized experience of learning that is going to be something that they are certainly passionate about, that they can take into the future and augment their own personal growth, overall,” said Gray.

Gray said transformational learning is a priority within the school district.

“Children would understand themselves as learners, that whole feedback loop around experiences that allow them to have feedback from others, but even their own self-assessment of how they learn will help them to become those critical, deep thinkers to really solve our complex problems for our future,” said Gray.

She served as the Assistant Superintendent and Director of Instruction in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District.

Gray will assume her duties as both the Superintendent and CEO of the Cowichan Valley School District on April 1.
