With all of the commotion surrounding the holidays it may be easy to forget about some simple safety tips that could prevent a nightmare before Christmas.
The deputy chief of the Duncan Fire Hall is Art Sanderson.
He says Christmas trees can be a serious fire hazard.
Sanderson says you should also keep gift wrapping away from a fire… and don’t throw it in a fireplace because it could cause a chimney fire.
He adds people should also avoid overloading a power outlet because it might not be able to handle the charge.
