CVRD releases "odour survey" results, asks composters to review operations

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is going to ask some composting facilities in the Cobble Hill area to review their operations, after an “odour survey” in July and August.

The survey was in response to on-going complaints.

It found short-lasting, but likely offensive smells, could be coming from several sources including: the Maple Hill Waste Water Treatment Plant, Twin Cedars Waste Water Treatment Plant, Fisher Road Recycling, Central Landscaping Supplies and Gamboa Greenhouses.

The CVRD is also promising to have a new odour control system installed at the Maple Hill Waste Water Treatment Plant by this summer.

You can see the results of the survey here.
