It’s a big step in efforts to ensure everyone in the Cowichan Valley has adequate, and affordable, housing.

The Cowichan Housing Association is now up and running.

Joy Emmanuel is the Affordable Housing Coordinator at Social Planning Cowichan. She says the Association will bring together the work done on homelessness and affordable housing by various committees, social agencies and local governments over the past 7 years.

Emmanuel also says the Association wants to engage residents in what they’re doing. They’re giving people a chance to find out more about what they’ve got planned at a special meeting February 10th, from 5 to 7pm at the Island Savings Centre.
