Second crash on TCH involving RCMP vehicle remains under investigation

Shawnigan Lake RCMP say there were no serious injuries after an unmarked police SUV was involved in a crash with a pick-up Friday evening near Mill Bay.

It happened around 6pm at the intersection of the Trans Canada Highway and Frayne Road.

The pick-up was being driven by a 46 year old Cobble Hill man, the RCMP SUV was from the Westshore Detachment.  Police say it was not responding to any emergency at the time.

The officer in the SUV and the driver of the pick-up and a 6 year old passenger were all treated in hospital and later released.  Because there were injuries, BC’s Independent Investigations Office has been notified, but at this point they haven’t opened an investigation.

RCMP South Island Traffic Services are hoping to hear from anyone with information on the accident. (250) 416-0352.
